  4. I think shared maternity and paternity leave will fail one of my reasons for this is that how would you cover for people who work in the army would the government bring soliders home for a baby or women in the army this could lead to less people fighting in different countries meaning loosing a war would be easier due to soliders being away.

  5. Tyanni; I believe that shared maternity/paternity leave is a good idea because it allows both parents to be involved with the most important first few months of their baby's life. It also allows the mother to go back to work if she wants to which I think is a really good thing as it doesn't leave the mother stuck at home and putting all financial stress on the father. It allows both parents to share financial responsibility and also care for their baby.

the mother and father can both take 6 months off work so it won't be the woman off on her own, the father can help too and they can both have the time off and get paid.

I think that shared maternity/paternity leave is a good idea and will be successful because it gives the chance for the father to spend a longer amount of time with the child. Mother and father should not be treated differently. Especially if it is the mother who has the higher paid job, then she is able to go back to work earlier whilst the father looks after the baby.

I think shared maternity/paternity leave is a bad idea and will fail because, it requires everyone to use abide by the system and I do not think that everyone will. Some men will be too concerned about their careers and will not take time off, this means that other males in the business may feel under pressure to stay and work. Company's will have to spend time and money training new employees to cover will both male and female are on maternity and paternity leave. An increase in the length of time for paid paternity leave will also increase a businesses expenditure this may result in a decrease in profit which may lead to the company having to make people redundant.

  12. Sophie Turner - my personal opinion is that shared maternity/paternity leave is a good idea because it gives both parents time to spend with the baby. However, in the terms of business, I think that shared maternity/paternity leave is a bad idea and will fail because the company will have to spend more in wages as they wil be paying the employee on maternity/paternity leave as well as their replacement. This also means that they will have to train more people to do the same job.

  14. I think shared paternity leave is a good idea as it allows both the mother and father to spend time with the child where as in the past only the mother has been given the oppurtunity, it also means the mother can get back to her normal job quicker.

I think that shared materinty is a bad idea and will fail because it will encourage more people to have kids and not have to work for their money, and that will result in other people to do the same thing.

I think shared maternity/paternity leave is a good idea and will be successful because it will share the responsibility of the child between both parents therefore reducing stress of the mother and will allow the mother to carry on working, this means she will not come back after a long period possibly far less effiecient at her job.

  20. I think shared maternity/paternity leave is a good idea and will be successful because it reduces the mother's work spent on the child. This will make the parents happier as they will be also be spending more time with their child and they may be more motivated to work. I believe that businesses will not be affected much because they will know in advance when the employee is to take time off and they will be able to prepare for this.

  21. I think shared maternity/paternity is a good idea and will be successful because one parent can work while the other cares for the child. this means that there is still income but the baby is also being looked after. however, the weekly pay is very low and also there is no increased time between the parents.

I think shared maternity/paternity leave is a good idea and will be successful because men will become almost as equal as women when it comes to the care of children, however men tend to earn more than women so losing the mans full income for 6 months could prove costly to the finacial stability of the family.

  23. Good idea because it halfs the time a company pays their employee for leave, as the employee's partner can also take leave. Means male dominant businesses take some of the strain too.
