Because if you don't meet certain targets, you wouldn't get an extra profit, so you would feel like you have to make extra product to reach your targets, which could not be of high quality, so if you're producing things that aren't of a very good quality, your job may not be as secure as you would like it to be.

You may rush the products to meet your targets to get peice rates but this may reduce the quality so therefore your emplyer might sack you.

  3. izzi - piece rates could stop you from having job security because the fact that you are paid on condition of how much you produce, then if you produce kless and are paid less then you don't have a secure income.

If you are working with piece rates, if you do not produce a quantity of products you will not get a decent wage, this is because you have a very low basic wage so you need to produce products for the money yopu earn to go up. This therefore is not secure because the company may not product enough products and then the wage you earn will be low.

This would be because the employee will have a very low basic wage. Therefore if an employee did not make a sufficent amount of products then they will only be paid the very low basic wage.

  6. Holly: If you cannot produce enough products or if you are sick then your pay will decrease. The amount of things you make, measures your success and therefore influences how much you earn. If you fall behind or are not able to make as many products as some of the other employees then the company may make you redudant. The stress of having to produce as many products as you can, will not give you the feeling of saftey or security. You know that if you do not make many products then you will receive a lower pay. Money will be your big motivater.

  7. lauren- piece rate could stop you from having job security because they might not sell enough items that required which means that they will then get paid less. you will also not know what your getting paid only your basic rates, depending on how much items you've sold.

  8. tyánni; because the work you are doing, is not fixed. you have to produce as much as you can in order to get more money so there is no contract, agrrement or fixed terms involved.

Piece rates could stop you having job security because you only get paid a small wage to start with and if you don't produce as much as your target is set too, then the piece rate you earn will be low also. This means that your total wage will be low.

  10. Hollie B: Piece rates could stop you having job security becuase workers only get paid a very low basic salary, and they get extra if they produce a certain target of produced goods, this will not give the employee a very good job security beucause when they first start, they wont really know how to meet the targets straight away, so they will be worried as they will only definetley get a basic pay :)

Their falling perfermance would be evident when mangers check figures and statistics to find how much to pay each worker; they would then be sacked.

  12. Tim Taylor: if you are working too hard then employers may be paying you more that they want too and could have you made redundant? also to receve the same amount of money each week then you will have to work at the same level all the time.

because if you produce less and if you have an autocratic manager you may get fired

The basic wage you recieve is very small so you will want to get the piece rate as well. You may feel pressure to reach that target at the end of the week. You may be inclined to rush products to reach this target, and that could provoke reprimands from your employer.

Piece rates could stop you having job security as you have to reach a certain target to earn more money but if your worker see you are constantly not reaching these targets, they may think you are an incapable worker and either fir you or demote you leading to demotorvation

Piece rates can stop you having job security because you are payed extra if you meet targets however, if you do not meet these targets, not only do you not get a high pay, you could be replaced if employers do not think you are working hard enough. Furthermore, if you have one bad day at work, you will not feel secure because you know you will get paid less money, therefore will have more trouble supporting yourself that week, and may be replaced by someone who can meet all the targets.

Peice rates could stop you having a job because the employee could recieve a really low basic wage. This is because if an employee did not or doesnt make a usefull amount of products then they wont be paid much because they wouldnt be selling what they needed because of possible pressure and the thought of not making and meeting your target.

your wage is small so you will want to get piece rate but a have to reach a certain amount at the end of the week so you may have to rush things and rush employees. if the company make less you get less

  24. Zoe: Because if certain targets are not met you won't get an extra profit so you would feel like you had to make extra products to reach your targets. These products may not be of a high quality. If you are producing low quality products you run the risk of getting sacked so your job is not secure :)

  25. Becky White:
To get piece rates you have to create a certain amount of products. Therefore, you would want to make as many products as you can so you may rush making them. If the products are low quality then the employer may sack you because you are not doing your job properly and it costs the company money if they have to be re-made.

  26. Fonticha says, "The basic wage may not be enough for your family to live with. This might make you feel unsecure with the job because you might feel very pressured into trying to achieve your targets which may mean that your work may not be to your full potential. You might also be dismissed if you are not able to achieve your targets which contributes to the feeling of pressure."

  27. you will want to earn a piece rate as well as your normal pay as your normal pay is very low. and if you dont sell your products you will have a low job security

  28. Takbir Says:

If peice rates are initialised and the worker is not able to reach the employers demand. Then it will ensure and give reason for an action to be made and the loss of employment. As more responsibility is put upon the worker along with peice rates i believe that there will be more pressure felt to reach a target set and may result in product failure and provoke the owners and the customers for the failure of the service or good.

it would affect security and safety because it means that you may have to rush your products which will mean that the quality will decrease, this could end up with someone loosing their job! :)

  33. Piece rates could put pressure on the workers as to how much they earn and if they can reach the target before the week ends.

piece rates could stop you from having job security, because you could work to hard to complete your targets but at the same time you wont be doing it correctly which means it wont be up to standard therefore you could get sacked.
